K.O.D Writes

 KOD WRITES.

In a media release cited by DKNewsroom on K.O.D 's Facebook page and social media wall on 0710/2022. Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel makes an excellent exposition on the recent happenings on KNUST campus.

I have keenly followed the arrest of some KNUST students and their appearance before court from police cells. They are being prosecuted in connection with rioting on campus. I am most distressed about this issue as a former colleague of theirs in KNUST.

Discipline is the acknowledged mark of good students and this is why I condemn the involvement of my dear colleagues for the part they played in the undisciplined act of rioting.

However, I shall plead with the police prosecution to initate a Nolle Prosequi. If not done, grave mental harm will be done these young ones should the trial persist, because of their long stay on remand and their denial of bail.

I am reliably informed that amongst those arrested where persons who are in their final year. I believe their release would enable them to work on a thesis document and complete all other demands of them. They must graduate.

I am of the belief that the case reaching a conclusion in good time is an uncertainty with the recent change of charge sheet by the police and hence a nolle prosequi would make the less harm.

The KNUST students should be released and should be made to undergo mental examination by some of the country's finest mental practitioners to allow them recover for serious academic work.

Kyeremeh Oppong Daniel

Former NUGS Secretary for Education
